Thanks so much for your comments. I enjoy doing these weed walks with you, too. They push me to look for new plants and to learn new things about some of my old green allies. I hope these virtual walks are encouraging you to get outside and encounter the plants in person. The Earth gives us such an amazing abundance of food, medicine, and beauty. It fills my heart with gratitude and joy. This week, let's take a walk in one of my herb gardens. In addition to the medicinal herbs I planted, we will find lots of medicinal, edible, and useless weeds to investigate too. We don't have to walk far, so no excuses now; everybody can join us for this one. Bring your wheelchairs and your walkers, take off your shoes; this one is a weed sit instead of a walk. The hardest decision we have to make is what we will do with all the plants we find. Shall we make a wormwood tincture? An infused oil of comfrey? A bergamot vinegar? I know! Let's cook up some amaranth greens. They have such a buttery texture and a wonderful nutty, green taste. They are definitely one of my favorite greens. In the next weeks, we will look at some of the mallows around here, and visit with the many-knees sisters as well. I will be doing some traveling: to Floyd Virginia for the YogaFest, to the Philo School of Herbal Studies, and finally, to Zsusanna Budapest's Goddess Festival in the California redwoods.
